Playstation Network (PSN) Hacked – Accounts Compromised

Last week, the Playstation Network went offline due to an “external intrusion” according to Sony.

Six days later, Sony finally announces that Playstation Network accounts have been compromised by the intruder. That means the external intruder got ahold of registered account information such as:

• Name
• Address
• Password and Account Login Name
• Country
• Email Address
• Birthdate

To make matters worse, Sony also mentioned that Credit card information (may) have been obtained. Sony says there’s no evidence of this, but tells people to be vigilant of their credit statements to be safe.

“If you have provided your credit card data through PlayStation Network or Qriocity, out of an abundance of caution we are advising you that your credit card number (excluding security code) and expiration date may have been obtained,”

The Playstation Network is still offline as of this writing. Reports suggest that some PSN services will be back online in a week or so. Stay tuned for more updates.
