EVO Games – Featured Gaming Space
With the rise of Xbox Live, PSN, Steam and other online gaming services, gamers have made it a habit to lock themselves in their rooms to game with their friends online. Social gaming moved into cyberspace and changed the gaming landscape forever. Over the last few years though, face-to-face social gaming has been somewhat on the rise because of tournaments, competitions and pro-gaming leagues. This is the core of Victoria BC’s own premiere game center; this is Evo Games.
I had a chance to hang out and talk with Dwayne Morash, owner of EVO Games. An easy-going man with a welcoming personality, Dwayne certainly know his games. Our interview covered many topics ranging from the state of the game industry to the face-to-face social gaming resurgence of late. He also educates the newer generation of gamers, their parents on gaming culture, team-work, and the importance of having fun.
He gave me a tour and I have to say, I was impressed by the setup, the equipment, and the game library featured at the game center. EVO Games boasts 14 Xbox 360 consoles attached to 1080P screens with high-quality gaming headsets. They also have a Nintendo Wii and Kinects for parties and younger gamers looking for more family-friendly games.

They have Saturday night “Lock-In” events that allows players unlimited gaming, snacks and a great place to have fun and meet other gamers. Weekly late-night adult gaming events are also in the works for later this year.
EVO Games also runs a tournament league called “Evo Gaming League” that runs several times per year. In fact, they have upcoming tournaments for gamers wanting to challenge others in Call of Duty: Black Ops, Halo: Reach, and Mortal Kombat. Dwayne also mentioned that gamers who want to join the league and accompanying tournaments can join online by purchasing tickets through the EVO Games website.

I encourage everyone living in BC, Canada to visit EVO Games for a social gaming experience unlike any other. It’s a great place to meet fellow gamers who love the same things you do.
