Resident Evil: Retribution Producer Planning Monster Hunter Film
In a recent interview with a Japanese website, Resident Evil: Retribution Producer Paul W.S. Anderson revealed that a Monster Hunter film is indeed in planning stages. Given Anderson’s hit-or-miss video game adaptations, this could be a blessing or a curse for Monster Hunter fans worldwide. When asked about what other game franchises he would like to translate to film, Anderson replied:
“Recently, I’ve been loving Monster Hunter! A film conversion is currently in planning.”
Capcom’s Monster Hunter franchise isn’t known for having in-depth narratives; instead it’s popular for having addictive hunt-and-slay gameplay and a die-hard community. I mean the franchise by itself sold millions of PSP’s in Japan alone, saving the handheld from being totally dominated by the Nintendo DS. There have been no other mentions of the film project other than his comment. We’ll keep you guys updated once we find out more.
What would you like to see from a Monster Hunter film adaptation?
