OUYA Joins Forces With OnLive To Deliver Cloud Based Gaming To The Console

Recently, OUYA announced that it joined forces with OnLive, and that they would be incorporating the cloud game service and its 300+ stable of games to the OUYA console.

A few weeks ago, the gaming and developing community banded together to show their support for the Android-run OUYA console. The Kickstarter campaign raised more than $5.5 million and ensured that the system would see the light of day in the near future.

One of those most excited for the new system was OnLive, a gaming company who pioneered cloud-based, on demand gaming with their own service. OnLive was ecstatic to find out that the OUYA console would be open and is essentially a dev kit so anyone with the proper skills and training can create their  own games. Naturally, a partnership seemed like a perfect idea.

Onlive Service Interview

Onlive Service Interview

I’ve been using the Onlive service for almost two months now, and it’s been a great gaming alternative to my gaming consoles. New games get added to the always affordable PlayPack Bundle, and the community is growing larger everyday. Only Onlive lets players play their favorite multiplayer games like Homefront and Fear 3, as well as hardcore games like the Witcher Enhanced Edition and Just Cause 2 all for $9.99  per month. With almost 80+ games, with more added every week, and a lot more in the marketplace for purchase or rental, Onlive is quickly becoming one of the better gaming deals available.

I had a talk with Brian Jaquet, Director of Corporate Communications for Onlive. I had a chance to ask him about the service, how it started, how it’s grown as a service, and where it’s going to be in the future. Check out the full interview after the break. Read the rest of this entry
